You will be picked up from your hotel lobby in Aswan by your knowledgeable guide and driver.
A comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle will be used for the journey to Philae Temple, which is located on an island in Lake Nasser, accessible by boat.
Upon arrival at the dock, you will take a short boat ride across the calm waters of Lake Nasser to reach the temple complex.
Once at Philae, you’ll have time to explore the temple complex, which is dedicated primarily to the goddess Isis.
Your guide will provide a brief historical overview of the site, pointing out key features such as the temple’s pylons, sanctuaries, and the beautiful hieroglyphic carvings that tell the temple’s story.
You can admire the stunning scenery surrounding the temple and enjoy a peaceful stroll through the ruins, giving you an introduction to the history and culture of ancient Egypt.
At 6:30 PM, you’ll take your seat in the specially designated area for the Sound and Light Show.
As the sun begins to set, the temple is illuminated by dramatic lighting, creating a stunning visual spectacle.
The show begins with a captivating narration, blending lights, music, and voiceovers that bring to life the history of the Philae Temple. It tells the story of the temple’s construction, its significance as a center for the worship of the goddess Isis, and its connection to Egyptian mythology.
The voice of Isis, played by a narrator, guides you through the ancient tales of gods, pharaohs, and the enduring spirit of Egypt’s religious traditions.
The sound effects and lighting design amplify the immersive experience, making it a truly magical moment as the temple complex glows against the night sky.
After the show, you will have some free time to explore the temple again, this time under the soft, glowing lights. The illuminated ruins offer an entirely different experience compared to the daytime visit.
You’ll have the opportunity to take photos of the temple in this spectacular, illuminated setting, capturing the magic of the site at night.
After your exploration, you’ll board the boat to return to the mainland.
Your guide and driver will be waiting to take you back to your hotel in Aswan, where you’ll arrive in comfor.
Additional Tip
Comfortable shoes for walking around the temple, and warm layers for the cooler evening temperatures (especially if you’re visiting in winter months).
The Sound and Light Show typically runs every evening, with showtimes varying based on the season. The best time to visit is just before sunset to enjoy both the daylight and nighttime atmosphere of the temple.
