Your day begins with a pickup from your hotel lobby in Aswan at 08:00 am . A comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle will be waiting for you to take you to Philae Temple.
The drive to Philae Temple will take about 30 minutes.
Arrive at 08:30 am. Philae Temple is dedicated primarily to Isis, the goddess of love and motherhood. This temple complex is located on Philae Island in Lake Nasser, accessible by a boat ride from the mainland.
You’ll have a chance to explore the temple complex, which includes several other smaller temples and shrines. Some of the key sites within the temple complex include
The Main Temple of Isis
The Kiosk of Trajan, an ancient structure dedicated to the Roman emperor.
Smaller sanctuaries and the Temple of Hathor, another key structure dedicated to the goddess Hathor.
Your guide will provide in-depth explanations of the historical significance of the temple, explaining its architecture, the mythological stories surrounding Isis, and the religious practices once held here,take time to enjoy the stunning views of the temple against the backdrop of Lake Nasser.
Head to High Dam at 10:30 am after spending around two hours at Philae Temple, you will depart for the High Dam, another major landmark in Aswan, the drive to the High Dam will take about 30 minutes.
Arrive at 11:00 am. The Aswan High Dam is an engineering marvel that controls flooding, generates hydroelectric power, and provides irrigation to the surrounding areas. It was completed in 1970 and created Lake Nasser, one of the largest artificial lakes in the world.
You will have the chance to walk across the top of the high dam and enjoy panoramic views of the Nile River and the surrounding desert. The view from the dam provides an excellent photo opportunity, with the vast expanse of the river on one side and the arid land on the other.
Your guide will explain the dam’s significance, how it was built, and its impact on Egypt’s economy and environment. This site also provides a great insight into modern Egyptian engineering.
At 12:00 pm after your visit to the High Dam, you will head to a local restaurant for a traditional Egyptian lunch. You’ll have a chance to sample some local dishes and relax before continuing with your tour.
Lunch is typically served in a comfortable setting, where you can enjoy regional flavors such as koshari, grilled meats, and Egyptian salads.
After lunch, you will depart at 13:00 pm for the Unfinished Obelisk, which is located in the ancient granite quarries of Aswan. The drive takes around 20 minutes.
Arrive at 14:00 pm at the Unfinished Obelisk. This is an ancient obelisk that was never completed. It was carved from a single piece of granite, and its sheer size would have made it one of the largest obelisks ever erected. The obelisk is a unique site because it provides insight into the stone-carving techniques used by the ancient Egyptians.
Your guide will explain the process of how the obelisk was meant to be carved and how the ancient Egyptians used copper tools to chisel through solid granite. You’ll see the unfinished cuts and learn about the challenges faced by the workers.
This site offers a fascinating glimpse into the ancient quarrying process and the engineering techniques that allowed the Egyptians to carve and transport massive stone blocks, which were later used in temples, pyramids, and other monumental structures.
At 15:00 you’ll head back to your hotel in Aswan. The return trip will take around 20 minutes.
